Manga the Foodstore was established on August 15th 2015 after acquiring Ranchhod’s Speciality Foods, who were the first importers of spices into New Zealand.
Operating for over 40 years, Ranchhod’s was a Wellington institution for Indian groceries. Shortly after acquiring Ranchhod’s we decided to change the name to Manga the Foodstore to reflect our family heritage and the wider community. Manga has several translations in different languages. As our heritage is from Kerala (India), Manga translates to Mango in Malayalam.
Although at its infancy, our website endeavours to be a true reflection of our in-store product range. We try to update new products and inventory to the best of our ability and are continuing to improve it in the upcoming days.
We maintain the same pricing online and as we do in-store. This means that delivery costs are not factored into the pricing.
With over 15 years of wholesale experience we conduct our wholesale operation in a professional manner. We cater to restaurants, other retailers and walk-in wholesale customers with both an on-account and cash 'n' carry model.
After years of consulting the diverse community of Newtown and our suppliers alike, we have experimented with a wide range of products since our conception, and now stock over 5000 products.
As we deal with both International and local suppliers, product availability is dependent on supply, demand and quality.
We have learnt from our customers and our own experiences to focus on quality as opposed to quantity. Our spices, lentils, beans, flours, nuts and seeds are all packed and labelled to maintain a high level of freshness and traceability. So, on occasions when products do not meet our customer's expectation we can quickly identify and implement corrective measures.
